Mini bouquet made of eggshells: Easter decoration for hanging

Spring is knocking – and you simply hang small vases on the branches. A mini bouquet made of eggshells brings exactly this feeling into the house: light, playful and a bit poetic. The egg holds the flowers like a mini vase while the inside continues to work in the kitchen – for example in an Easter cake or as a fried egg. In no time at all, a simple breakfast egg becomes a decorative star on the Easter branch.

Make a mini bouquet out of eggshells

The idea is wonderfully simple to implement: you carefully break the egg at the top until a small opening is created, use the egg for cooking or baking and then clean the eggshell. Inside there is now space for water, moss or flowers. A ribbon that you attach to the inside or outside of the egg ensures that your egg dangles casually from the branch. With a few brush strokes, each bowl can get its own look – from a delicate pastel gradient to bold splashes of color.

Several eggs look particularly beautiful next to each other: sometimes with a single daffodil, sometimes with soft moss and a twig, sometimes with fluffy catkins or delicate dried flowers. This creates a small, floating floral still life at the window or on the set Easter table. And all of this with materials that you mostly have at home anyway.

  • some moss, small twigs, feathers or delicate grasses
  • alternatively: dried flowers

  1. Carefully break open the eggs at the top with your fingers, collect the contents in a bowl and use for cakes or similar. use.

  2. Rinse the eggshells with lukewarm water, let them dry and carefully break off the sharp edges until a small “vase” is created.
  3. Paint the bowls as desired or use a glaze to color them in pastel shades, then let them dry thoroughly.

  4. Cut the ribbon, form a loop and attach it to the inside of the egg or to the outside of the edge with superglue and let it dry.

  5. Hang eggs on a twig or branch.
  6. If desired, add some water and add fresh flowers or arrange moss, small twigs or dried flowers decoratively. Complete!

If you want very clean openings, you can first pierce the eggs with a needle or a kebab skewer and let the contents flow out before carefully breaking open the shell at the top. If you are unsure about the glue, stick the ribbon around the outside of the egg and secure it with a nice knot. You can let your creativity run wild when it comes to color design: delicate pastel transitions in a color family look very harmonious, e.g. B. Lilac-rosé-cream or sage green-mint-white. For a particularly elegant look, combine cream-colored eggshell with white ribbon and white flowers.
