You need that

• 1 empty milk carton
• scissors or Cuttermesser 🛒
• Pencil and ruler
• Wooden stick, shish kebab skewer or small twig (as a perch)
• String or wire for hanging

Milk carton birdhouse: This is how it’s done

1. Clean the box

Rinse the milk carton thoroughly with warm water and let it dry.

2. Cut cardboard

Use the pen to draw a round or oval entrance (approx. 4-5 cm in diameter) on one side of the cardboard. Cut it out carefully with scissors or a cutter. Be careful not to make the opening too large.

3. Install a seat

Poke a small hole just below the opening. Stick the twig or shish kebab skewer through it and secure it with some hot glue. Now your milk carton birdhouse has a little runway.

4. Decorate the birdhouse

Now comes the creative part! Paint the box colorfully and decorate it however you like.

5. Hang up the birdhouse

To be able to hang your birdhouse on your balcony, carefully poke a small hole in the top of the box with a knife or scissors. Pull a string through it, knot the two ends and you can hang the house on a hook. It’s best to look for a place protected from wind and rain so that the birds don’t sit in the wet. Now all you need is the bird food, which you put into the house through the opening, and the first visitors can come.
