What makes the dip dye technique so special?
The dip-dye technique is ideal if you want to customize candles without spending hours working on them. You simply dip the candles into colored wax and create gentle color gradients in an ombré look or bright contrasts. The result looks modern, playful and fits perfectly with current interior trends. You can also vary colors and patterns again and again, so that each candle is unique.

1. Prepare candles
Place the candles in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before dyeing. If they are cold, the wax sets more quickly when dyeing.
2. Melt and color wax
Heat water in a pot and place the containers with the leftover candles in it. The wax melts gently in a water bath. You can also place all jars of wax in a large baking dish filled with hot water in the oven at 150° for about 15 minutes to melt the wax. If you use white candle residue as a base, don’t forget to add the liquid wax dye, colored candle residue or neon granules to get your desired color.
Extra tip: If you don’t have all of this to hand, but you do have wax crayons, then try the following: Use a knife to scrape some wax off a wax crayon in your desired color and stir it into the liquid wax. If you want more intense colors, just add more crayon.
3. Immerse candle
Hold the candle at the top and dip it vertically into the colored wax. Depending on how often you dip the candle in the wax, the color will become stronger or softer. Do not leave the candle in the wax for too long, but rather repeat the process more often so that the candle does not become too soft. For a beautiful color gradient, dip it several times, each time holding the candle a little less deeply into the wax.
4. Combine colors
You can also use multiple colors. To do this, melt different colors in separate containers and dip the candle into it from one side for each color. This creates exciting color contrasts or soft ombré gradients.
5. Let dry
Place the candle on baking paper to dry or hang it carefully so that it doesn’t get any bruises. Make sure that each layer of wax is completely dry before applying a new color.
