Make a flower pot out of corks: creative upcycling idea

Empty wine corks often end up in the trash, but you can make really nice home accessories out of them. A cork flowerpot looks warm, natural and goes perfectly with succulents, herbs or small houseplants. DIY is ideal for reusing existing materials and at the same time creating a truly unique piece.

You need

  • lots of wine corks
  • a small flower pot or a glass as a mold

1. Prepare the foundation

Prepare the flower pot or jar that will later disappear inside. It serves as a stable base and ensures that the plant can be watered easily. If you want, you can also use foil or a thin inner pot.

2. Arrange corks

First lay the corks dry around the pot to get a feel for the arrangement. Depending on the look you want, the corks can be placed horizontally or vertically. A uniform pattern looks particularly harmonious.

3. Glue the cork in place

Start at the bottom and gradually glue the corks together with hot glue. Work your way up row by row. Press each cork briefly to hold it securely. Make sure that the rows are as straight as possible.

4. Level the top edge

Once at the top, you can carefully align any protruding corks or glue them slightly offset to create a natural finish. Small gaps are no problem and underline the rustic character.

5. Decorate and plant

Optionally, the flower pot can be decorated with a ribbon, bow or jute cord. Then insert the inner pot and plant your new cork container with a suitable plant.

Tips and variants
