Distress and Final Stain

When the paint is dry, distress and sand the wood with the #2 Steel Wool.

This is where you will want to wear gloves and protective eyewear.

The steel wool pieces can break off and lodge in your skin, making them hard to remove.

Keep sanding until you are happy with the look!

Remove dust from your wood with a lint-free cloth or a blower.

Apply a coat of the DIY Wood Stain using the same grade steel wool you used to make it.

Let the wood fully dry between applications, as the color can change significantly once dry.

When you are happy with how the wood looks, lightly sand it with dry steel wool.

Here is a visual of how the process will look and how the wood changes.
